What to Expect During Your Dental Check Up
During your regular dental exam, a dental hygienist will scale, polish, and rinse your teeth to remove the plaque, tartar, and stains that build up between professional cleanings. Our dentist will then examine your teeth, mouth, gums, throat, and neck looking for signs of any potential problems. This will likely include a visual examination, manually palpating tissues, and possibly taking dental x-rays.
If Dr. Mott notices any potential signs of disease or anything else unusual, he will discuss further steps with you regarding diagnosis and additional treatment. During your appointment, you’ll also have the opportunity to ask the dentist about any oral health concerns you have, from talking about symptoms you’ve been experiencing, such as sensitivity, to learning about flossing techniques and recommended toothbrushes for preventing gum disease.
